Govt. To Provide Financial Aid To 7,000 Eligible Widows, Single Women For Construction Of Houses- Chief Minister

Shimla, 16th January, 2024. Chief Minister Thakur Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu has said that the State Government would shortly commence the ‘Mukhya Mantri Vidhwa Avam Ekal Nari Awas Yojna’ to provide financial assistance to eligible widows and single women for construction of their houses.
The government was completely dedicated for the upliftment of women and under this new scheme an assistance of Rs. 1.50 lakh would be provided for the construction of homes. Nearly 7,000 women were expected to benefit from it, stated the Chief Minister.
Apart from providing financial aid for building homes, essential amenities like electricity, water and other facilities for the newly constructed houses would also be provided under the scheme. During a recent Cabinet meeting an in principle approval was given to the scheme, stated the Chief Minister adding that the Government was working on formulating final modalities in order to provide assistance to these women.
The State Government was ensuring well being of the vulnerable sections of the society and had initiated various beneficial schemes for them, said Sukhu while adding that he was well aware of the plight of weaker sections of the society as he himself belonged to a middle class family.
During the last one year, the State Government has introduced many new initiatives and measures for the upliftment of the vulnerable and weaker sections of the society. ‘Mukhya Mantri Sukh-Ashrayra Scheme’ has been implemented and over 4,000 orphans have been adopted as Children of the State. Himachal is the first State in the country to shoulder complete responsibility of care and education of orphans. The State Government has decided to provide Rs. 4000 per month as pocket money to orphans upto the age of 27 years, he reiterated.
He said that these initiatives underscore the commitment of the Government to ensure a dignified life for those in need, reflecting a holistic approach towards the societal upliftment and progress.
