10th Edition International Film Festival of Shimla (IFFS) concluded

Governor of HP, Shiv Pratap Shukla presides over closing ceremony of IFFS 2024

Shimla, 18 August, 2024. The 10th edition International Film Festival of Shimla (IFFS) concluded today with a grand closing ceremony held in Shimla today. Hon’ble Governor of Himachal Pradesh,  Shiv Pratap Shukla presided over the closing ceremony of the 10th International Film Festival of Shimla (IFFS) at Gaiety Heritage Cultural Complex in Shimla.

The three-day monumental event was held from 16th to 18th August, 2024 at Shimla aimed at showcasing the best of world cinema and providing a platform to filmmakers and film talent from across the world. The third day of the festival saw a legion of visitors thronging the Gaiety Heritage Cultural Complex to enjoy the mega carnival of cinema.

The Best Feature Film in International category was awarded to On My Way directed by Thierry Obadia while The Passion of Mahmoud won the Best Long Documentary award at IFFS 2024 awards ceremony. Festival Director Pushp Raj Thakur said that the 10th IFFS edition showcased around 105 films, representing 27 nations and 22 states of India.

The 10th Edition of the International Film Festival of Shimla, being organized under the aegis of the Ministry of Information & Broadcasting, Govt of India, Department of Language & Culture (LAC) Government of Himachal Pradesh by Himalayan Velocity proved to be a gala affair that celebrated the art of storytelling through the lens of diverse cultures and perspectives. The festival featured competitions in International, National and State Category. Specially curated sessions focusing on issues, themes, countries and the works of filmmakers were also organised.

Apart from the screening of films, the festival featured Masterclass with experts from Film Institutes, film critics and film Industries organised during the festival provided a boost to the whole celebration. 60 Independent directors whose films were screened in the festival also graced the three day long festival.

IFFS strives to promote a vibrant movement in Documentary, Short Films, Feature Films, Animation Films, Music Videos, and Web Series. IFFS has been successfully organized since 2015.
