Missing Person Vetri Duraisamy’s Body Has Been Recovered From The Satluj River

Shimla, 12th February, 2024. On 04.02.2024, a Toyota Crysta carrying three persons has drowned accidentally in Satluj river near Kashang Nallah, Tehsil Kalpa, District Kinnaur, Himachal Pradesh. One person namely Gobinath (aged 32 years) S/o Sh. Selvaraj R/o Palayam, Vellakovil, Tiruppur, Tamil Nadu was injured and has been shifted to IGMC Shimla. One person namely Tenzin R/o VPO Tabo, District Lahaul Spiti, HP was found dead and dead body has been retrieved. Other person namely Vetri Duraisamy (aged 45 years) R/o H. No. 28, 1st Main Road, CIT Nagar, Nandanam, Chennai, Tamil Nadu is missing in the said event.

Missing person Vetri Duraisamy is the son of S. Doraiswamy, former Mayor of Chennai. In this regard, a case FIR No. 09/24 dated 04.02.2024 U/s 279, 337, 304A IPC has been registered at Police Station Reckong Peo. On the day of incident some part of human body believed to be brain was found on the spot and same was preserved by the Investigation Officer and sent to the State Forensic Science Laboratory, Junga, HP for DNA profiling on 06.02.2024.

To trace out above missing person a joint search operation was conducted w.e.f. 04.02.2024 to 12.02.2024 by the District Police along with ITBP, NDRF, Navy, SDRF Uttrakhand, Home Guards and divers of Mahun Nag Association on the banks of river Sutlej. Drone was also used to trace out missing person. During search operation, today on 12.02.2024, missing person has been recovered from the Satluj river, about 3 km from the spot by a local diver.

Dead body of the deceased has been shifted to IGMC Shimla for postmortem. After postmortem dead body will be handed over to the relatives of the deceased. Director General of Police, Himachal Pradesh appreciated the work done by the team lead by Naveen Jhalta, HPS, Dy.SP (HQ) District Kinnaur who have done their work
professionally and with great zeal and dedication.
