The core ceremony at the Shimla headquarters was led by Additional Director of Industries, Mrs. Deepika Khatri, who administered the anti-terrorism pledge to the assembled staff. Gathering collectively at 11:00 AM, officers and administrative employees firmly resolved to oppose all forms of terrorism and violence, while championing the values of peace, communal harmony, and national solidarity.

Upholding Democratic Values and Harmony
Reflecting on the deeper significance of the day, Commissioner of Industries, Dr. Yunus, underscored the vital need for consistent institutional awareness against radical forces.
“Anti-Terrorism Day serves as a poignant reminder of our shared, civic responsibility to protect and uphold peace, unity, and democratic foundational values. Observances like these strengthen public awareness against systemic violence and inspire the broader society—most notably our youth—to actively pursue the path of harmony and national integration,” Dr. Yunus stated.
Echoing these thoughts, Additional Director Tilak Raj Sharma highlighted the role of individual responsibility in shaping a unified front against anti-social elements. “The solemn pledge taken today reflects our structural commitment to maintaining communal harmony and constitutional values. Every single citizen plays an active part in constructing a resilient, strong, and united India that is entirely free from terrorism and violence,” he remarked.

National Anti-Terrorism Day is observed annually on May 21 to educate all sections of society about the devastating impacts of terrorism on human lives, public safety, and macroeconomic growth. The day also honors the ultimate sacrifice of former Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi, who tragically lost his life to an act of terror on this day in 1991.

By actively engaging public offices, departmental units, and industrial sectors, the Himachal Pradesh government continues to foster a secure, harmonious environment conducive to social welfare and progressive economic development.
