Cultural Significance of Minjar
The week-long festival, steeped in centuries of heritage dating back to 935 AD, symbolizes communal harmony, prosperity, and gratitude.
The Symbol:
The festival gets its name from Minjar, a silk tassel worn by locals that represents the vibrant shoots of paddy and maize breaking through the soil around this time of year.
The Procession:
The event traditionally culminates with a spectacular Shobha Yatra (grand procession) from the Akhand Chandi Palace to the banks of the Ravi River, where ceremonial offerings are immersed to seek divine blessings.
Chief Minister Sukhu expressed his appreciation for the invitation and assured the delegation that the state government is deeply committed to preserving and promoting Himachal Pradesh’s rich cultural repository on global platforms.
