SJVN Kicks Off ‘Swachhta Pakhwada 2026’ with Nationwide Pledge and Sustainability Drive

SHIMLA — In alignment with the directives of the Ministry of Power, Government of India, public sector undertaking SJVN has officially commenced its observance of ‘Swachhta Pakhwada 2026.’ Running from May 16th to May 31st, 2026, the fortnight-long initiative aims to deeply embed the principles of cleanliness, sanitation, and environmental sustainability into the organization’s daily operations and surrounding communities.
Sh. Bhupender Gupta, Chairman and Managing Director (CMD) of SJVN, issued a earnest call to action, urging the entire workforce to take proactive roles in the diverse activities planned across all projects, stations, and offices.

A Unified Commitment Across Leadership
The campaign officially commenced with a series of synchronized pledge ceremonies designed to reinforce institutional commitment:

Corporate Headquarters (Shimla): Sh. Ajay Kumar Sharma, Director (Personnel), administered the solemn Swachhta Pledge to employees. The ceremony took place in the benign presence of Sh. Pankaj Porwal, Chief Vigilance Officer (CVO), alongside other senior officials.

Liaison Office (Delhi): Sh. Parthajit De, Director (Finance), led the pledge ceremony for the capital-based workforce, ensuring a unified corporate voice.

Project Sites: Similar pledge-taking ceremonies were successfully organized across all regional project offices, ensuring grassroots participation from field engineering and site teams.
Speaking on the launch, Sh. Ajay Kumar Sharma emphasized that personal accountability is the cornerstone of broader societal change. “Through collective internal efforts, SJVN aims to not only maintain pristine working environments but also to actively promote sustainable practices and create greater, lasting awareness among our local host communities,” Sharma stated.
Action Plan for the Fortnight
SJVN has structured a comprehensive roadmap of community outreach and environmental conservation initiatives to be executed over the next two weeks. The planned activities include:

Field Cleanliness Drives: Intensive sanitation campaigns within office premises, project colonies, and public spaces.

Green Canopy Expansion: Mass plantation and afforestation activities near project locations to support environmental conservation.

Community & Youth Outreach: Academic engaging events, including declamation competitions for local students, designed to foster eco-consciousness in the next generation.
